Mood Wine is going to be Flaming the Vines of Temecula starting tomorrow. While confirming one of our wine tastings I heard the most fascinating story about this wine...
This is one of the three white wines we will be featuring in our inaugural white wine club. This wine is so stunning that in our panel tastings it was one of the two hands-down favorites, and two of the tasters each bought some that night.
So about that six degrees of separation:
So I was on the phone with this guy...
Nick Palumbo is arguably one of the most respected winemakers in Temecula. He is going to do a private tasting with our Moodie Flamers on Friday. He has a serious love affair with the barrel and how it dances with the grape... this will be a big part of our tasting with him!
But I digress, while talking to Nick on the phone he told me about a fascinating story involving Mood Wine; one of his wine club members from San Diego enjoying dinner out in Palm Springs at Tinto, and a Moodie
Nick didn't have any names, so I'm linking to SUSPECT #1 because he took home six bottles on the night of the tasting, and also SUSPECT #2 because he took home two bottles that same night. WILL THE REAL MOODIE PLEASE STAND UP!
Here's what happened: The Palumbo club members were having dinner at Tinto and struck up a conversation with the couple eating next to them. During the course of their conversation Mood Wine was mentioned and they talked about the Mood Wine Club. They continued to talk and at one point our mystery Moodie got up, quickly raced home and came back with a bottle of the Hart Winery Sauvignon Blanc. The Palumbo wine club members were so impressed that when they were tasting at Palumbo soon after, they saw Nick and told him how enthusiastic these guys were about the Mood experience, and had a Temecula wine to share -- Nick said, "Oh Yeah, I know Patrick Bartlett."
SMALL WORLD - and in a VINO way, Mood Wine is making a difference LOL

Suspect #1 pled guilty---to both being wonderfully cool wine-wise, but also to owning a big heart. I'm reminded of a quotation I use in my teaching: People do not remember you for what you did, or what you said---they remember you for how you made them feel . . .
ReplyDeleteLOL - Thanks for the info Jim, my sleuthing task is over... GREAT QUOTE!!!
DeleteThanks for the mention for sure but the point here is how great the Hart SB is and how great the Mood Wine community is for it's enthusiasm and willingness to share! Whoever it was that night, they really captured what wine is all about! And they shared it with a great couple who also "get it".
ReplyDeleteThanks Nick - What excites me is getting to broaden the positive image of Temecula to skeptics... thanks to wines and winemakers like you and Joe Hart!
