Time for a new APP - No NOT for your phone silly...

The last thing you need during the holiday season is a bunch of complicated appetizer recipes, and it's humpday, so you should be celebrating and not slaving over anything! I have the perfect antidote, at least in regards to holiday appetizers.

This SUPER easy appetizer is not only beautiful, but delicious -- AND it's a crowd pleaser every time. like phone apps, you can never have too many!
Sundried Tomato - Goat Cheese Dip
Sundried Tomato - Goat Cheese Dip
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup shallots
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (I used Temecula Olive Oil Company's Hickory Smoked Olive Oil)
  • 1 cup sundried tomatoes - julienne cut
  • 4 tablespoons minced fresh oregano
  • ½ lb goat cheese
  • 1 lb cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons oregano
  •   Olive oil for finishing (I used Temecula Olive Oil Company's 2011 Molto Burrosa)
  •   Sliced fresh baguette

Method:
Thinly slice shallots, and caramelize with a touch of olive oil (the hickory smoked olive oil was perfect for this) over medium heat, add a pinch of salt if needed. Set aside to cool. Combine goat cheese, cream cheese, and 3 tablespoons of minced oregano in bowl, mix thoroughly.

Plating:
Spread cheese mixture on base of serving plate. Take sundried tomatoes and caramelized shallots -- arrange each on top of cheese mixture either in alternating rows, or any layered design that shows well. Finish by scattering the remaining oregano on top and drizzling with extra virgin olive oil. Serve with sliced baguettes.

I love this appetizer so much, I did several of them and strategically placed them around the LOFT for our cookie exchange party...
The appetizer troops ready to rock and roll
HAPPY HOLIDAY PARTY SURVIVAL
