Orzo, IPA, Burgers, Bob McGee, and Ballers... SUNDAY FUNDAY!

Palm Springs January 22, 2012 - This day shall be remembered for years to come!
This weekend was pretty crazy in Palm Springs. People often think of our desert as this hot, arid, and climatically benign region... WRONG, at least the benign part LOL! Wind storms in the desert can be ferocious... and Saturday's storm was a record breaking whopper.

So with the calm that followed on Sunday, it was time to put the deck furniture back outside and watch some football. And not just any football, but a very important championship game that determined the Super Bowl rivals. The game didn't end the way our group wanted but the food more than made up for it... including this charming guy's Orzo Salad...
Bob McGee and his Orzo Salad
Bob McGee recently moved to Palm Springs from San Francisco. HE KNOWS EVERYONE, and we expect him to become the toast of Palm Springs in no-time-flat! As a matter-of-fact, he's so popular already we're thinking of having a BOB McGee themed party, and it will be a MUST ATTEND EVENT!

This Orzo Salad is SO delicious... and healthy, and easy to make...
Bob's Orzo Salad
Method according to Bob:
  1. Cook orzo and reserve
  2. Mix olive oil and lemon juice for dressing
  3. Large shrimp - cooked with tails off
  4. Cube feta cheese
  5. Chop cherry tomatoes
  6. Chop cucumber
  7. Mince Parsley (and he often adds minced dill and chives)
  8. Salt and LOTS of white pepper
Mix it all up, let it chill and it should look just like the picture.

In addition to this amazing salad we had burgers and beer...
IPA and Organic Beef Burgers with all the fixings
And in keeping with my "a Trois" fixation, I did my flourless peanut butter cookies three ways...

Flour-less Peanut Butter Cookies a TROIS!
  1. Dusted with Cayenne
  2. With M&Ms - in honor of Dan McLeod
  3. Classic with sea salt
Have a happy Monday, and now I must retrieve our deck furniture again due to another wind storm in today's forecast!
