Here are some pictures from our Mood Wine Club of San Diego. This was our second roll-out
Mood Wine tasting event...
|
Morley House |
Our Mood Wine San Diego club hosts Brian and Phil have an amazing craftsman home in North Park - soon to be
Morley House B&B. With a beautiful backyard like this who wouldn't want to gather and taste some nice wines?
TIME TO JUMP...
This North Park neighborhood in San Diego is known for its historic Craftsman bungalows...
|
Welcome to Morley House |
With entertaining in mind, Phil and Brian completely renovated the home...
|
Front Porch Street Side Viewing Deck |
The back yard is complete with fire pit, spa, and outdoor kitchen/bar... it totally set the mood.

Ready to welcome the San Diego Moodies |
And I had to put this in, just because...
|
Morley House - Front Room |
Oh, and about that tasting... in addition to the appetizers designed for the wine tasting of the
Three Big Reds, we put out fruit, meat, and cheese to snack on... it's just how we set the MOOD...
|
Time to get the party started |
The Moodies gather - time to enjoy one of the reception wines - either Fazeli Cellars
Phel Phel or
Sauvignon Blanc...
|
Mood Wine San Diego Commences |
Of course we had to do the fun blind-tasting using the
three astounding wines that were so amazing only a Dixie-Cup would do...
|
Brian showing Jo (from New Zealand) how to properly taste from a Dixie Cup |
I think Dan Becker was astounded with his first Dixie Cup taste, and poor Nestor Velochi just couldn't put his finger on the aromas of GRAPE in the Manischewitz he was tasting, but Jo had it going on by this point...
|
L-R: Jo - Nestor - Dan |
For the REAL tasting we paired each wine with a bite that worked with it...
|
Almond Stuffed, Bacon Wrapped Dates |
The dates were served with the
Yalda - this is the Rhone Style blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Cinsaut. The sweet dates wrapped in the smokey bacon was perfect with this wine.
The tasting format worked SO well; we all gathered around the fire pit and took our time with each of the wines...
|
Wine Wine Wine |
If I could put words in their mouths... there would be lots of
"Hmmm what do you think?" "Is it the blackberry or Kona Coffee I'm getting?" "Wow, I bet I can get my whole nose in this glass!" "Finally - I'm learning how to swirl the wine in my mouth!!!" But regardless of what they are saying, you have to admit, they are focused...
|
L-R, Patrick, Greg, Dan, Natalie, and David |
It was a rapt group, either that or they were all HOPING I'd wrap up all my wine talk...
|
It appears every mouth was full of wine |
San Diego now has a fantastic founding group for
Mood Wine of San Diego with this debut event...
|
Brian and Patrick |
Thank you Brian for helping make this happen Brian!!!
And of course, who can forget Phil Clooney-Russ from Mood Wine of Palm Springs...

NEXT STOP - MOOD WINE OF RIVERSIDE COMING IN MAY!
LMAO! Poor Nestor Velochi? haha. I don't need pity for not guessing a generic wine in a wine club party. That's funny! Great event by the way. Best success.
